Chat Not Responding

If you send a message and no reply arrives, or a response stops partway through, it is usually a temporary connection or session hiccup. Work through the steps below in order - most cases are resolved by the first few.

Quick Checks First

  1. Wait a few seconds. Detailed answers, especially ones that run on-chain analysis, can take a moment to start. A short pause before the reply appears is normal.
  2. Check your internet connection. Open another site or tab to confirm you are online. A dropped or unstable connection is the most common cause of a stalled reply.
  3. Look for an error message near the message box. If one appears, it often points to the specific problem.

If There Is Still No Response

  1. Refresh the page. Reloading re-establishes the connection and usually restarts a stalled conversation. Your conversation history is saved and will still be there.
  2. Retry the message. Send it again, or use the retry option on the message that did not get a reply.
  3. Start a new conversation. Open a new chat and send your message there. If the new conversation responds normally, the issue was with the previous one.
  4. Sign out and back in. If you were away for a while, your session may have expired. Signing in again refreshes it.
  5. Try a different browser or device. This helps confirm whether the problem is with your current browser, an extension, or your network.

Other Things to Try

  • Disable browser extensions temporarily. Some extensions, such as ad or script blockers, can interfere with live responses.
  • Check the service status. If responses are failing everywhere and none of the above helps, the service may be experiencing a temporary disruption. Wait a few minutes and try again.
  • Shorten a very long message. An extremely large message or many large attachments can slow a response down. Try trimming it.

Notes

  • Refreshing or starting a new conversation does not delete your saved conversations.
  • If a response stopped partway, the partial reply stays in the conversation. Send a follow-up asking Cognivo to continue.
