Competitions

What Competitions is

Competitions are timed contests you can join from your Cognivo account. You earn points by using Cognivo while a competition is live, and the leaderboard shows where you stand against everyone else who entered.

The page heading says it in one line: "Compete on Cognivo, climb the leaderboard, win prizes."

When to use it

Use this page when you want to know what is running right now, what a competition rewards, what it costs to take part, and whether you are near the top.

Where to find it

In the dApp sidebar, open the Account group and select Competitions. You can also reach it from the Rewards page using Browse competitions.

  1. Use the All, Active, Upcoming and Past tabs to narrow the list. The number on each tab is how many competitions it holds.
  2. Check the Entry tile before you join, because it shows what taking part costs. This one costs 20 credits, and the second card on the page is Free.
  3. Select Enter to join. The note beside the buttons tells you how many entries one person can have.
  4. Select View leaderboard to see who is ahead in that competition.

Reading a competition card

Every competition is one card. From left to right the card carries:

  • The title and a short description, with a status badge of Live, Upcoming or Ended.
  • Ends in or Starts in, counting down, with the exact time in UTC underneath so everyone reads the same clock. A competition with no closing date shows Open ended, and "No end date. Runs until closed."
  • Prize, which is what the top of the leaderboard wins.
  • Entry, which is what joining costs. It reads Free, or a number of credits.
  • Your points, and your place if you already have one.

Below the tiles are the actions, plus a note such as "Max 2 entries per user" when a limit applies.

Filtering the list

The tabs above the list are All, Active, Upcoming and Past, and the number beside each one is how many competitions it holds. The search box filters by name and description.

Active shows only what is running right now.

Upcoming shows competitions that have been scheduled but have not opened yet. Their button reads Not started yet and cannot be selected, though you can still open the leaderboard and check the prize and entry cost in advance.

If more than six competitions match, the list pages, with page numbers under the cards.

Entering

Select Join on a free competition and you are in straight away. Select Enter on one that costs credits and Cognivo opens a Confirm entry dialog first. That dialog names the competition, states the exact credit cost, and shows Your balance beside it. Nothing is charged until you select Confirm. Cancel costs you nothing.

If your balance is short, the dialog says so and the Confirm button stays disabled. If Cognivo cannot read your balance at that moment it shows "Not available right now" rather than guessing a number. If an entry fails, you are not charged.

Once you have used all your entries, the button is replaced by an Entered badge showing how many of your allowed entries you have used.

The leaderboard

View leaderboard opens a panel listing places, display names and points, with Your standing at the bottom. An empty panel reads "No entries on the leaderboard yet. Be the first." That means nobody has scored yet, not that the competition is broken.

Points come from running Cognivo tools while the competition is live. More activity means more points.

For a competition that has ended, the panel shows the winner once one has been declared. Until then it says "Winner pending review", because final standings are confirmed by the Cognivo team before any prize is awarded. A prize on the card is what is on offer, not a payout that has already happened.

When the page looks empty

  • "Sign in to join competitions" means you are not signed in. Continue from Cognivo Chat and the page fills in.
  • "Competitions are coming soon" means the feature is not switched on for your account yet.
  • "No competitions yet" or "No matches" means nothing is scheduled, or nothing fits your search.

Cost

Viewing competitions, leaderboards and your standing is free. The only thing that can cost credits here is entering a competition that lists a credit Entry, and that always goes through the Confirm entry dialog first. Every account gets 5 free credits per day, which reset at midnight UTC.

Limitations

This page is in English only, including its heading, while the rest of the dApp follows your chosen language. Prizes are reviewed and confirmed by the Cognivo team before payout, so a leaderboard position is not a settled result.
