What Settings is
Settings is the one page where you control who you are on Cognivo, what other people can see, how the assistant talks to you, and what happens to the data Cognivo holds. It also holds the controls for deleting your account.
- Account, Privacy and Social safety cover who you are on Cognivo and what other people can see.
- Chat and AI, Notifications, Following feed and Alerts set how Cognivo talks to you and what it tells you about.
- Language and region, Accessibility, and Data and storage change how Cognivo reads and looks, and what it keeps on this device.
- Danger zone sits last and is coloured red, so closing your account is never next to an everyday switch.
Use it when you want to answer a question like: what is my Cognivo ID, do my searches show up publicly, why are timestamps in UTC, how do I stop seeing an account in my feed, or how do I close my account for good.
Where to find it
In the dApp sidebar, open Settings. The page is headed Settings with the line Customize your experience.
The left rail lists eleven sections: Account, Privacy, Social safety, Chat & AI, Notifications, Following feed, Alerts, Language & region, Accessibility, Data & storage, and Danger zone. Danger zone sits last and is coloured red, so account deletion is never next to an everyday toggle.
Account: your name, ID and photo
- Select Copy on the Cognivo ID row to put your ID on the clipboard when someone asks for it.
- Select Change photo to upload a new picture, or Remove to go back to the default one. PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF, up to 2 MB.
- Select View public profile to see your profile the way other people see it.
Your Cognivo ID looks like COGNI-XXXX-XXXX. It is how support finds your account and how other members can look you up. You cannot choose or change it, and there is no handle to claim here. If it reads Not available yet., your ID has not finished being issued and the public profile link is not ready either. Reload the page later.
One thing to know about Display name: the field saves your text, but the name shown on your public profile is not driven by this field yet. If your profile still shows an older name, that is why.
Privacy and Discover
Sharing is on by default. When it is on, the checks and traces you run can appear on the public Discover feed, and other people can find your profile by your Cognivo ID.
- Switch off Share my searches on Discover if you would rather the checks and traces you run stayed off the public Discover feed.
- Select the question mark next to a setting to read what it changes before you turn it on or off.
- Switch off Show my Cognivo ID on public cards if you want the cards you share to appear as anonymous.
Further down the same section is a Social & profile group that controls your public profile itself.
Default publication visibility sets who sees new research you publish: Everyone, Followers, or Only me. Hide targets by default redacts the wallet or token you looked up when you publish, which is useful if you want to share a finding without pointing at the address. The follower counts, badges and stats toggles only change what appears on your public profile.
Social safety
Muting an account hides it from your following feed and stops its social notifications. Blocking goes further: it removes any follow between you, prevents new follows, and hides the account from your feed and notifications. Both are reversible.
You add someone by searching for their Cognivo ID, so you need the ID before you can mute or block.
Chat & AI
This section sets how the Cognivo assistant answers you. Default style offers Auto, Beginner, Degen, Investor and Forensic. Response length is Concise or Detailed. You can also turn on your first name, evidence links and follow-up suggestions.
Preferred chains lets you pick Ethereum, Base and BNB Chain. Leave it empty and Cognivo picks the most likely chain for each question.
Two details matter here. Personalize Telegram replies is off by default, and while it is off the Telegram bot ignores your style, length, first name and chain preferences completely, so a style you set in the dApp will not show up in the bot until you turn that toggle on. Show limitations is always on and cannot be turned off, so a result never hides what it does not cover.
Notifications, Following feed and Alert defaults
These three sections set what you are told about, how your feed opens, and the starting values for new alerts. Critical security alerts are always delivered and cannot be switched off. Receiving alerts is free on every channel. See Notifications and Alerts for how each one behaves.
Language & region
Language changes the interface language, and Cognivo is available in twelve. You can change it here or from the language selector in the top bar. See Supported Languages.
Timezone decides how times are displayed. Events are always tracked in UTC, and if you never set a timezone your timestamps stay in UTC rather than following your browser. The list is a curated set of common zones plus a Use device timezone option, so pick that one if your zone is not listed.
Date format and Time format are saved but do not change how dates and times are drawn yet.
Accessibility
Reduce motion, increase contrast, text size and interface density are stored on the device you are using, not on your account. They apply immediately across every page. Set them again on each device or browser you use.
Data & storage
Clear empties the trace history kept in this browser on this device. There is no confirmation step, and there is no way to remove one trace at a time. It does not touch your saved items, collections, activity, usage history or credit records, which live on your account. There is also no data export inside Settings today, even though the deletion dialog suggests exporting first.
Danger zone
- Open Danger zone at the bottom of the settings menu to reach the account deletion controls.
- Read the red notice before you go further. It lists what gets removed or anonymized, and it explains that blockchain records stay public and that some billing and legal records are kept without your name attached.
- Choose Delete my account when you are certain. Cognivo asks you to confirm first, and the deletion cannot be undone.
After you choose Delete my account, Cognivo asks you to confirm your identity first. Nothing is deleted at that step.
Two limits are worth reading twice. Deletion cannot change on-chain data, because blockchain records are permanent and public and stay visible independently of Cognivo. And some financial and legal records, including billing, credit-ledger entries and legal acceptances, are kept in anonymized form as the law requires. They are de-linked from your identity rather than erased.
The Account status panel
Your credits, your Cognivo ID and your recent activity are in the Account status dropdown in the top bar, not in Settings.
It shows your paid credit balance, your daily free credits, a countdown to the next reset, and how many things you ran today. Every account gets 5 free credits a day and they reset at midnight UTC. The shortcut buttons take you to Billing, Usage, Notifications and History. For what credits are spent on, see Billing & Credit Packs.
About account security
There are no password, two-factor or session controls in the dApp today. There is no active-sessions list and no sign-out-everywhere. The Security entry in the sidebar is a different thing: it is the Wallet Security approvals scanner, which reads which apps and addresses can move tokens out of a wallet you enter. Scanning is free. Revoking sends a transaction from your own wallet and costs network gas, and Cognivo cannot tell you whether a spender is safe or harmful.
Cost
Everything on the Settings page is free. Preferences, privacy, muting, blocking, clearing local data and deleting your account never spend credits.
