Temporary Chat Mode

A temporary chat is a conversation that is not stored in your history. When the session ends, the messages are discarded and the conversation does not appear in the left sidebar. Use it for a quick, one-off question you do not need to keep.

When to Use a Temporary Chat

  • A quick lookup or one-time question you will not revisit.
  • A throwaway experiment where you do not want to add to your saved history.
  • Any exchange you would rather not have listed in the sidebar afterwards.

For anything you may want to return to later, use a normal conversation so it is saved automatically.

Starting a Temporary Chat

  1. Open the new chat menu, or the conversation options.
  2. Select the Temporary Chat option.
  3. Start typing. The conversation runs like a normal chat while the session is open.

A temporary chat is usually marked so you can tell it apart from your saved conversations at a glance.

How It Differs From a Normal Chat

Normal ChatTemporary Chat
Saved to historyYes, automaticallyNo
Appears in the sidebarYesNo
Available after the sessionYesNo, it is discarded
Can be searched, tagged, or bookmarkedYesNo

Within the session itself, a temporary chat works the same way as a normal one: the AI keeps context across the thread, and you can ask follow-up questions.

Notes

  • Because a temporary chat is not saved, you cannot reopen it later. Copy anything you want to keep before you leave.
  • Closing the temporary chat, or ending the session, permanently removes the conversation.
