Uploading Files
You can attach files to messages in Cognivo Chat. The AI model reads the file content alongside your message — useful for analyzing documents, reviewing code, discussing images, or working with data files.
Two Ways to Attach a File
Attachment Button
The attachment icon (paperclip) appears in the chat input bar. Click it to select one or more files from your device.
Depending on the current model and endpoint, a menu may appear with upload options — for example, document upload, image upload, or tool-specific options like file search or code execution. Select the appropriate option and choose your file.
Drag and Drop
Drag one or more files from your device and drop them anywhere on the Cognivo Chat page — the entire page is a valid drop zone, not only the input area.
If the file can be handled in more than one way, a dialog appears asking how to process it. Select the appropriate option to continue.
When File Upload Is Not Available
The attachment button only appears when the currently selected model or endpoint supports file uploads. If no paperclip icon is visible, the active endpoint does not accept attachments.
To upload files, switch to a compatible model using the model selector at the top of the conversation.
How Files Appear in the Conversation
After attaching:
- Images display inline in your message
- Documents and other files appear as named file containers
Up to 10 files can be attached in a single message.
File Dashboard
All files you upload are stored in your account. To view and manage them:
- Open the Files panel from the side panel, or access it through Settings
- Each entry shows the filename, type, and upload date
- Click the delete icon to remove a file
Removing a file from the dashboard does not change past conversations where the file was already used.
