General Settings
General Settings is where you control your interface theme, language, and core display behaviors. It also gives you access to your archived conversations.
Opening Settings
Click your user name or avatar at the bottom of the left sidebar to open the account menu, then select Settings.
Settings is organized into tabs: General, Chat, Speech, Personalization, Data, and Account. This page covers the General tab.
Theme
Choose how Cognivo Chat renders colors:
| Option | What It Does |
|---|---|
| System | Follows your device's light or dark mode setting |
| Dark | Always uses the dark theme |
| Light | Always uses the light theme |
Language
Select the interface language. Over 35 languages are available, including an Auto option that detects your browser's preferred language.
Changes take effect immediately — no reload required.
Display Toggles
| Setting | What It Does |
|---|---|
| User Message Markdown | When on, your own messages render markdown formatting (bold, code blocks, etc.); when off, they appear as plain text |
| Auto Scroll | When on, the view scrolls automatically to the latest message as responses stream in |
| Hide Side Panel | When on, the right side panel (tools, bookmarks, files) is collapsed by default |
| Keep Screen Awake | When on, prevents your device from sleeping during long sessions — useful on mobile |
Archived Chats
The Archived Chats section shows all conversations you have archived. Archiving removes a conversation from the main sidebar list without deleting it.
From this section you can:
- Search archived conversations by title
- Restore a conversation to the main list
- Permanently delete a conversation
To archive a conversation, open the three-dot menu on it in the sidebar and select Archive.
