Wallet Tracer Overview

Wallet Tracer is an interactive fund flow analysis tool for Ethereum. Enter an address, choose a direction, and Cognivo follows the movement of funds through connected transactions.

What Wallet Tracer Does

Given a starting Ethereum address, Wallet Tracer:

  1. Follows fund transfers across multiple transaction hops in your chosen direction
  2. Identifies the type of address involved, such as a wallet, contract, exchange, bridge, or mixer
  3. Detects where funds ultimately ended up, called terminal addresses
  4. Visualizes the entire path as an interactive

The Bubble Map

The Bubble Map is the primary way to view a trace result. Each circle (node) represents one Ethereum address. Arrows (edges) show fund flows between addresses.

Nodes are color-coded by type:

Node TypeWhat It Represents
Regular walletAn externally owned account (EOA) controlled by a person
ContractA smart contract address
CEXA centralized exchange address
DEXA decentralized exchange router
BridgeA cross-chain bridge contract
MixerA privacy protocol

Click any node or arrow to see transaction details.

Trace Directions

When starting a trace, choose the direction to follow:

DirectionWhat It Shows
OutgoingWhere funds went from the starting address
IncomingWhere funds came from before reaching the starting address
BothA combined bidirectional view

Trace Tabs

Wallet Tracer displays results across several tabs:

TabDescription
MapThe interactive Bubble Map visualization
JourneyStep-by-step, chronological list of every transaction
TerminalsAddresses where the trace stopped, with reasons explained
Flow PathsAnalysis of the primary fund routes detected
LifespanTrace processing timeline (created, started, completed)

Why Use It

Wallet Tracer is useful when you need more than a single lookup. It helps you understand how funds moved, where they stopped, and which connected addresses matter most in the path.

Tracing from Chat

You can start a trace from Cognivo Chat by asking the AI to trace a wallet. Cognivo runs the analysis and gives you a direct link to the result in Wallet Tracer. A Back to Chat button in the Wallet Tracer header returns you to your conversation at any time.

See How Chat & Wallet Tracer Work Together for more on this flow.

Sharing and Export

Each completed trace has a shareable link and QR code. Use the Share button in the header to generate them. You can also export the Bubble Map as a PNG image.

Trace History

Wallet Tracer keeps a local history of your recent traces. Access it from the History page to revisit previous results quickly.

Credits

Wallet Tracer operations consume credits. Traces started from the home page use a 5-hop default. Free accounts receive 10 credits per day. Additional credits are available on the billing page.
