Understanding the Graph

The is the main visualization in Wallet Tracer. It shows how funds moved between Ethereum addresses, laid out as an interactive network graph.

What You're Looking At

Each element on the Bubble Map represents part of the fund flow:

ElementWhat It Is
Circle (node)One Ethereum address
Arrow (edge)A fund transfer between two addresses
ColorThe type of address — wallet, exchange, bridge, etc.
SizeRelative transaction volume at that address

The address you traced is placed at the center. Connected addresses spread outward based on how many transaction hops separate them from the starting address.

How to Read Fund Flow

Arrows show the direction money moved:

  • An arrow pointing away from an address means funds left that address
  • An arrow pointing toward an address means funds arrived at that address

Following the arrows from the center outward shows you the path funds took through the network.

Depth and Hops

The graph is organized by hop depth — how many transaction steps separate each address from the starting point.

  • Depth 0 = the starting address
  • Depth 1 = addresses that transacted directly with the starting address
  • Depth 2 = addresses one step further out
  • And so on

Addresses further from the center had less direct contact with the starting address.

Terminal Addresses

Some nodes on the graph are terminal addresses — places where the trace stopped following funds. These are shown differently and include a reason for why the trace ended there, such as:

  • The address is a known exchange or bridge
  • The trace reached its configured depth limit
  • The address had no further relevant transactions

See Terminal Addresses for a full explanation.

Not every path leads to a clear endpoint — traces often reveal patterns rather than definitive conclusions.

Interacting with the Map

You can navigate the Bubble Map by:

  • Scrolling to zoom in and out
  • Clicking and dragging to pan
  • Clicking any node or edge to inspect it in detail

See Clicking Nodes & Edges for what each click reveals.

Tabs Alongside the Map

The Bubble Map is one of several views. Use the tabs at the top of the trace page to switch between:

  • Map — the interactive Bubble Map (this view)
  • Journey — a chronological, step-by-step list of every transaction
  • Terminals — a list of all terminal addresses with reasons
  • Flow Paths — analysis of the main fund routes
  • Lifespan — trace processing timeline
