Journey Tab

The Journey tab breaks a trace down into individual transaction steps — showing exactly how funds moved from one address to the next, in order. Use it when you want to follow the money trail step by step rather than reading the full graph at once.

Activating Journey Mode

On desktop, click the Journey tab on the trace results page to switch from the Bubble Map to the step timeline.

On mobile, Journey is a dedicated page. Navigate to it from the tab bar at the bottom of the trace result screen. Journey is fully functional on mobile.

Reading the Step Timeline

Each row in the timeline represents one fund transfer:

FieldDescription
FromThe address sending funds in this step
ToThe address receiving funds
ValueAmount transferred
TokenThe token transferred
Transaction hashThe on-chain identifier for this transfer

Steps are displayed starting from your entered address and moving outward through the trace.

Filters and Controls

Sort mode controls the order steps are displayed:

ModeWhat It Does
By ValueHighest-value transfers first
By TimeChronological order
By DepthOrdered by distance from the starting address

Min Value (ETH) sets a minimum transfer threshold. Steps below this value are hidden — useful for traces with many small dust transfers that obscure the primary flows.

Reset clears all filters and returns to the default view.

Branching Paths

When funds split across multiple next hops, a step shows branching paths. Click Expand on a step to reveal its child paths. Click Collapse to hide them.

The Continue button auto-advances along the highest-value path from the current step.

Map and Journey Synchronization

The Bubble Map and Journey tab stay in sync on desktop:

  • Clicking a node on the Bubble Map highlights the corresponding step in the Journey timeline
  • Clicking a step in the Journey timeline focuses the corresponding node on the Bubble Map

This lets you move freely between the graph overview and the step-by-step breakdown without losing context.

Transaction Detail

Click any transaction row in a step to open the transaction drilldown. This shows the full transaction details: hash, block number, timestamp, and token information.

What Journey Shows and What It Doesn't

Journey traces the path of funds through transactions captured in your trace. It reflects the configured direction and depth — transfers outside that scope are not shown.

Traces record on-chain activity as it occurred. Journey helps identify likely routes, but the trail stops where the trace stops: at exchanges, bridges, or the configured hop depth.
